Fellow food enthusiasts gathered at the Brooklyn Expo Center on April 18, 2018 for Taste of the Nation NYC. The culinary event encouraged civic-minded foodies to eat and drink all in the name of a good cause. 100 percent of the proceeds from ticket sales benefited the nonprofit, No Kid Hungry. Over 40 local NYC restaurants were in attendance showcasing their signature dishes and unique craft cocktails. Some of the highlights from the evening were the live performance from X, Ambassadors, the Rosé Garden and Donut Derby. A few noteworthy restaurants serving the most popular eats included: Baby Back Ribs from Blue Smoke, Steak Tartare from American Cut and Meatballs from BKLYN Larder. “It’s an opportunity for New Yorkers to come together to show support for this wonderful organization that is doing so much to fight child hunger. It reminds me that we are all part of something bigger, outside of ourselves. Plus, the food is amazing,” said Marie, a first time attendee of the Taste.

The event is just one of 20 hosted across the nation in which members of the community sip and sample from some of the area’s top chefs and bartenders to raise funds No Kid Hungry. To date, Taste of the Nation has raised over $98 million to help end child hunger. One in six children in this country struggles with hunger, including 22% of children in New York. No Kid Hungry is ending childhood hunger in this nation by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast in the classroom, have access to the food they need in the summer, and families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget. Since the campaign’s launch, No Kid Hungry and its partners have connected kids facing hunger to more than 500 million meals.
