Located in Boca Raton within the Royal Palm Place, Medi Terra serves Western Mediterranean cuisine with influences from Italy, Spain, France, Portugal and Morocco. Father and son co-owners, Chef Michael Velicu and Daniel Velicu are passionate about providing guests with an exceptional culinary experience comprised of inventive dishes made from quality ingredients as well as a welcoming environment. Chef Velicu draws upon the techniques that he acquired while studying at the French Culinary Institute in New York City. Chef Velicu describes his approach to creating a dish like an artist, “The plate is comparable to a blank canvas and as the chef I have the opportunity to express my creativity with the ingredients and techniques. Essentially, cooking is like a method of artistry. I pour my passion and purpose onto the plate.” Opening Medi Terra was a life long dream for the father and son team. They seek to transport guests on a culinary journey with each bite. Chef Velicu often changes the menu based on the availability of ingredients for the season, but tapas, fish, seafood and meat are constant menu staples.

Begin your Mediterranean culinary journey with a few tapas: the creamy burrata, the filet mignon carpaccio and the octopus. All tapas were fresh and flavorful. The main event was the paella comprised of chicken, chorizo, octopus, scallops and calamari in a saffron rice. This delicious combination of meat and seafood was savory the perfect comfort food. The spaghetti carbonara was rich and satisfying. Influences from Spain and Italy were present in the dishes selected. The atmosphere was elegant, yet comfortable. Servers were very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.
